The TONY Awards 2017

The TONYs 2017 are one from the books. Briefly, here are some of my thoughts:

Host- Kevin Spacey did an admirable job. I didn't know he could handle the song and dance, but he proved capable. Not James Corden quality but okay. Some of the jokes were a little too inside.

Come From Away - Great performance by the cast in the opening number and show performance. One of my favorite shows of the year.

Ben Platt - Out of the ballpark, baby!

Andy Karl - Amazing performance...any other year he would have won.

Falsettos - Great performance. Why is Josh Gad a bigger star than Andrew Rannells?

Loved the playwrights introducing their pieces...great choice!

Cynthia Nixon!

Lea Salonga! You'll always be my Kim and you have grown into a GORGEOUS woman!

Enjoyed Miss Saigon.

Hello Dolly! - Elegance would have been a better number and would have highlighted Gavin Creel (YAY!) and Bette-shame, shame, shame!

Jitney - Unexpected but YES. Little Foxes was my first adult show and will always be a fave, but LOVE ME some August Wilson.

Josh Gad - You're not funny!

Cynthia Enrivo - The next Audra McDonald!

Will someone please cast Scott Bakula in a show? It's been too long.

Great Comet - Awesome performance. Josh Groban looks like he stepped off a bus and truck Fiddler performance, but he sounds pretty.

Laurie Metcalf - Another surprise but it's about time. If Laura Linney had to lose, I'm glad it was to Ms. Metcalf.

Come From Away - Best Director - well deserved.

Dear Evan Hansen - Best Score - One letter from the EGOT!

War Paint - Both ladies looked and sounded exquisite. Does Christine Ebersole age?

Hello Dolly! - Well deserved but Bette, you kept hiding.

Bette Midler - Deserved, but you went too far...rude.

Ben Platt - You DA MAN! Congrats, dude. Can't wait to see where you go.

Dear Evan Hansen - Beautiful piece. I love Come From Away but I'm fine with the win because it is absolutely awesome.

Loved that this year had wonderful surprises but the show dragged...I mean DRAGGED.

Looks like next year may be close to this year as well.
